2011 October Reading List

Vortex by Robert Charles Wilson – I didn’t like it even as a stand alone. Axis is still my favorite book from the series. 3/5 stars

The Dark Tower: Drawing of the Three by Stephen King - I kinda liked it better than the first TDT book. 4/5 stars

The Handmaid's Tale by Margareth Atwood – Why do people like dystopia? Ugh! I like to feel good when I read something, not depressed. 3/5 stars

Grass for His Pillow by Lian Hearn – Same as the first book from the Otori series, nothing much to add. 3/5 stars

Maybe because it was the first skate of the season, but somehow I found Skate America more interesting.

Still I loved loved loved Volosozhar and Trankov, and Fernandez too.

ODD?

My little real-life story ended up as runner-up in the contest ran by SF Signal and judged by Jeffrey Ford.

More details about the ODD? anthologies on Jeff VanderMeer's blog.

PS I'm as psychic as a rock so this was really odd.

Brezina, Savchenko and Szolkowi, Davis and White were the highlights for me.

I'm so happy that Eurosport is airing the grand prix events! They usually only seem to do it before the Olympic season so this is a nice change even if it messes up me schedule some. But skating takes sacrifices and skating fans aren't spared either. As long as there's skating on TV, I'm not complaining.
